Docebo chooses DX over Jellyfish for qualitative and quantitative developer insights

3x + return on investment in DX

Docebo

Docebo, a leading AI-powered learning platform, relies on its engineering team of over 140 to drive innovation and scale its product. As Docebo grew, leadership struggled to measure and improve developer efficiency. Their goal was to combine DORA metrics with deeper insights to identify process and tooling challenges affecting developers.

Before DX, Docebo relied on in-house surveys and manual collection of system data. These methods were costly, hard to scale, and didn’t yield participation above 25%, leading them to seek a better solution. In their evaluation, Docebo considered Jellyfish, but its focus on resource allocation and activity metrics left gaps. Jellyfish couldn’t capture the nuanced feedback needed to understand developer experience.

“Our existing tools gave us part of the story, but we lacked a way to measure productivity holistically. Jellyfish didn’t bridge that gap.”
Marco Vadori, Developer Experience Lead, Docebo

During their proof of concept with DX, Docebo received feedback from every developer in the organization—a critical moment that showed trust in the platform, and underscored DX’s unique approach. “The 100% participation rate we achieved in our PoC with DX was a turning point,” said Vadori. “It showed developers trusted the platform, which gave us confidence in the data.”

Beyond qualitative insights, DX offered customizable, AI-powered reporting that was tailored to Docebo’s workflows. Unlike Jellyfish’s canned dashboards, DX offered the flexibility to define key metrics, like lead time for changes, according to their standards.

Vadori captured the difference in this way: “DX doesn’t just collect data; it creates clarity. It’s become a cornerstone of our efforts to enhance productivity.”

Thanks to DX, engineering leaders can pinpoint challenges and make informed decisions. Unlike Jellyfish, which focuses on high-level metrics, and use-cases like resource allocation (which DX addresses), DX provides the insights and guidance needed to actually improve how engineering teams work.

Docebo plans to expand its use of DX to tackle team-specific challenges, refine workflows, and support its growing organization. Combining flexible reporting, trusted feedback, and comprehensive insights, DX has become integral to sustaining innovation and achieving measurable productivity gains.
